For many years, I have tried to maintain a healthy lifestyle while living in Chicago, IL. I commute to the suburbs every day for work, spending at least 2 hours a day driving. By the time I get home, find parking, and walk into my apartment, I am usually so exhausted that the last thing I want to do is cook a healthy meal, work out, and still have energy to keep my daily chores up to snuff. Add to this, a social life and enjoying all that the Windy City has to offer, and let's just say my wish for a healthy lifestyle has become a lower priority.
This site is for all of those who have struggled to put eating right and living a healthy lifestyle second to work, family, friends, and many more reasons. It's a place to discover healthy recipes, share your experiences in maintaining a healthy balance, and more. Some posts may provide you with examples of how to stay active, while others may be a self-proclaimed pity party of frustration, however, I think that's genuinely how we all experience life in the busy city.

About the Author
My name is Amanda, and I am a 30-something living in the Windy City. I have lived in here for 8 years, working in advertising, marketing, and event planning. About two years ago, I finished my graduate degree in business psychology, which I like to think I put into practice both professional and personally, which is one of the reasons why I have decided to start this blog.
Like many women, I have had my fair share of interesting dating experiences, ups and downs with work, which then lead to ups and downs in weight. Like many of us, I have struggled with body image - especially since I hit the "age of no return," 30. I assume we have all experienced that moment when we realize we can't scarf down 3 chicken tacos and a mexican pizza from Taco Bell at 3:00am after a night of socializing, and not gain weight. Let's face it, we are women, and our bodies change the older we get.
I hope that this blog will inspire others to work towards a lifestyle change. I am writing this to chronicle my experience in doing just that: taking control of my life in a healthy way, one of which I can maintain with my busy schedule and responsibilities at home, with my job, and with friends/family.
